Description: W&H Co nickel siver cigarette case, patented in 1917; the front is monogrammed 'JWC' and has a handsome etched stripes design on the front cover. The lightly gold washed inside holds 10 cigarettes and there are two very faint hand engravings on the inside of the front cover. One reads "Received from Nellie Martin Fox(?), Xmas, Dec. 25 1921" and the other has the original owner's name and address "James W. Cryder (perhaps, very hard to read) 1227 S 15th St Springfield ILL". The cigarette holder itself is hallmarked 'W&HCo' inside a hear, 'Nickel Silver' 'Yankee Cigarette Case' 'Pat Aug. 14 '17' and 'Made in U.S.A.'.
